Caregiving
Caring for a loved one strains even the most resilient people. If you are a caregiver, take steps to preserve your own health and well-being.
Mental illness is a disease that affects the whole family. Family caregivers feel the impact of the disease as they struggle to care for their loved ones and to bridge health care systems, mental health providers, and community support.
Caregivers are especially vulnerable, as they face complex, high burden care situations, resulting in higher stress and strain. Caregiving in the U.S. study found that mental health caregivers are more likely to face emotional stress and physical strain… which can lead to impacts on their own health.
Caregiver resources are available thru many agencies including caregiving tips, information and encouragement about taking care of you as a caregiver, connections to community organizations and agencies, and overviews of health conditions. Here are few options to check out including respite care.

We believe that someday – someday - cures will be found, but until then, we ask God to help us support and be compassionate to those with mental illness, every bit as much as we support those who suffer from cancer, heart disease or any other illness.
